FIRST LEVEL 6 MEET!

Hey people- guess what time it is? It's NOT winter time! It is MEET SEASON! Here are the scores from my first level 6 meet:

VAULT: 9.3 (personal best & good for 3rd!!)

FLOOR: 8.5 (My coach thinks the judge was pretty hard on us)

BARS: 8.1 (room to improve, but still good enough for 3rd place!)

BEAM: 9.5!!! (I almost botched my dismount, but held it together!)

I think it was a pretty good day for me, but I still have lots of work to do. It is still fun, though. Except for strength training. I do NOT like that very much.

NEXT UP: PUMPKIN CUP!!! Oct. 22

TOP FIVE THINGS THAT HAPPENED THIS SUMMER!!!

5. Right after school was out, my family went to TEXAS for two weeks!! I got to visit my old gym, I got to go to Hawaiian Falls, and I got to eat frozen yogurt. (we don't have it in New Jersey)

4. After that we went straight to Hilton Head for one week. We were with our cousins so we played together. One time we were bored so we gave my little cousin a massage and we made up a game that was based on that. During that week my cousins Maddie and Jack, Ross and I went on a boat to fish with my dad and uncle. It was just us and a captain, and we caught a really big shark and a sting ray!(I guess the fish weren't biting)

3. Last week my cousins from Texas flew to our house in New Jersey. We had so much fun!!! We went into the city and to see where The Cake Boss is filmed, we did a talent show, and went to The Crayola Factory in Pennsylvania. Then we packed our bags and went to Nahnee's lake house and stayed there for about 3 days. The day my cousins left, the Widners went to Niagara Falls.

2. At Niagara Falls we went on a boat called Maid of the Mist that took us through the Falls. We got wet but it was so awesome!!

1. Tomorrow my mom and I are going to the Visa Classic in Connecticut. That is a cool thing about living in a small state. We have been to Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and New York, and it only takes a few hours to get to each place! The Visa Classic is a gymnastics meet where the national champion will be decided. Right now, Rebecca Bross is leading. She had awesome bars and floor routines last night! I know we will get to see some great gymnastics tomorrow!

My First State Meet

I had my VERY FIRST EVER state meet today. It was at Rutgers, and that is one of my favorite places to have meets. To qualify for states in New Jersey, you have to score a 32 all-around at a sectional. Our gym went to 2 sectionals, but I had the FLU for the first one. I only had one chance to qualify, and I did it!!! Yeah!
Today, vault was first. It is my hardest event!!! I got an 8.35, which is my best score this season on vault. But, I didn't place. Boo-hoo!

After vault, I went to bars. I scored a 9.4, and that cheered me right up! I placed 8th on bars!! Yeah!

Next, I went to beam. I had a good warm-up, which ALWAYS makes my mom VERY nervous. Last year, I had a great warm up at a meet and then fell off the beam THREE TIMES!!! Now, every time I have a good warm-up, she is afraid I will fall!! Hahahahaha!!! Well, I did NOT fall today. I scored a 9.55 and got THIRD PLACE at STATE!!! I was so excited!

My last event was floor. I don't exactly know what happened, but for some reason, I made a wrong turn and had to do the second half of my routine as a lefty. I was terrified the judges would take a bunch of points off my score because of my mess-up. See if you can find Amy, my sweet coach, pointing to the middle of the floor. She was telling me which direction to go because I had NO IDEA! It is funny now, but at the time, I was so upset. So, you can imagine how happy I was when I got a 9.25! It was good enough for 11th place!

My overall score was a 36.525. And, I got 11th place all-around at my first state meet!

I had a lot of fun this season. At first, I really missed my teammates and gym back in Texas. I still do - so here's a big shout out to EAGLE GYMNASTICS and Coach Velvet, Coach Ashley, and Coach Nathan!!! I miss y'all, and you still ROCK!!!

It isn't easy going to a new gym, but the coaches and gymnasts at ENA made me feel so welcome. I had great coaches (AMY, PEI PEI, ALICIA, and ASHLEY), and made some great friends this season, and I am lucky to have such a great team!! I am looking forward to the off season to work on new skills, like back tucks, front tucks, free hip circles, and that darn VAULT!!!

Christmas Gifts

For Christmas I got a gymnastics bar, a new leotard, a Charlie Brown 550 piece puzzle, Scribblenauts for DSi, Wii Sports Resort, Uggs (yay!!!), pajamas, bath salts and bubble bath, Wizards of Waverly Place game for DSi, $30 gift card to Barnes and Noble, $25 gift card to Borders, and a $15 gift card to Toys R Us. I guess I was a pretty good girl!!
Tomorrow, I have my Sectional meet in Ocean, New Jersey. It is NOT IN the ocean but it is a town BY the ocean. The Atlantic Ocean. The sectional meet is a qualifier for states, which are at the end of January. I need to score a 32 ALL AROUND (all my event scores put together have to be 32 or more) to qualify. My goal is ALL NINES! I still haven't gotten a 9 on vault. Maybe tomorrow is the day! I hope so!! I will post videos and pictures after my meet tomorrow!
